I’m actually going to talk about movies for a change. I just recently saw Tower Heist and I saw it to be a decently funny comedy. If you asked me to rate it on a scale from 1-10 I would have to give it an eight. Why an eight? I feel that even though this movie did have funny moments the movie just seemed to meander along. There was also (SPOILER!) a very pointless romance in the movie between Stiller’s character and Téa Leoni’s character. With those complaints aside I still do find this movie funny with the situations the characters are thrust in and the very nicely paced dialogue. If I had the chance to see this movie again, I probably would, but only with some friends.

Never Forget

If you know what the title means, then you obviously know your Halo. Never forget is a piece composed by Martin “Marty” O’Donnell. Video game music is in my opinion one of the most important elements of a game. For some games it is a necessity such as Rock Band or Guitar Hero (duh). They set the mood and theme of the action that is going around your character. It can well up your emotions during touching scenes or pump you up for heart stopping action parts. Even the music is sometimes used as Easter eggs. For example there are special points in all Halo titles that when you reach them the special track “Siege of Madrigal” starts playing. My favorite tracks for video games are from Halo and include “Never Forget” and an unnamed track used for the live action trailer “Deliver Hope”. Video to all the songs mentioned are posted below.

This time, this post is a mix between movies and games. Any gamer knows that the most anticipated game of 2011 has to be The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. The release date is on 11.11.11 which just happens to be the release date for the action movie Immortals and comedy Jack and Jill starring Adam Sandler. I predict however that more people will be standing in line on midnight to pick up a copy of Skyrim that wait in line at midnight to see the release of Immortals and/ or Jack and Jill. I guess in two days I’ll find out the answer to my conundrum. And that’s this post because I can’t think of anything else good to write about.

Kindom Hearts is Light!

If you don’t get that quote, then I just spoiled part of the ending from Kingdom Hearts for you. Kingdom Hearts is hailed as one of the greatest games for the PS2. I just got my hands on Kingdom Hearts 2 and I have to say it is one of the best old school games I have played in so long. Yes I know the game is a sequel to the original Kingdom Hearts, but it explains the ending of the last Kingdom Hearts in the beginning of the game. One problem I’m having with the game is that for the first three hours I played as Roxas, and now I’m playing as Sora but I’m still kinda attached to Roxas’ story. If you still own a PS2 and have not played any of the Kingdom Hearts, you should do so.

I made another post! I decided that this post is going to be about upcoming games. One game that I can’t wait for is Battlefield 3. If you follow the game industry moderately (or just read Game Informer) you know about the ongoing battle between the releases of Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. If I were to take sides, I would be on the side of Battlefield 3. I like the realism of that game, huge maps, vehicle warfare, and 64 player matches. I know that Modern Warfare 3 will no doubt be a good game, but no doubt Battlefield 3 will be the better game. Another game that I think looks great is Tom Clancy’s Future Warrior. I watched the trailers from E3 and other YouTube trailers and it looks amazing. The four player co-op looked amazing and the futuristic setting really blew me away. I wish I could talk more about upcoming games, but I guess that I’m out of time here so this is jangledorf, signing out.

Now for a turn, I’ll talk about movies for this post. The most recent movie I just saw was Spirited Away, an animated movie directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The movie is set in Japan about a family moving from one part of Japan much to the dismay of the only daughter Chihiro. The family takes a wrong turn and finds themselves at what seems to be an abandoned theme park. Chihio and her parents start to explore the park and her parents soon find food and start stuffing themselves with said food. Chihiro does some more exploring and suddenly a strange boy appears and tells her to quickly turn around and leave this place. She runs away trying to find her parents but then finds them to be turned into pigs. From there the story just gets better and better. I would definitely recommend this movie to anybody who reads this blog.

Seeming as I only had one comment on my last post, I’m going to keep it open and see how many comments I can get on it and tally the votes when I think I get enough votes. Meanwhile, I will post about the first video game I have ever played. I actually do not have a clear memory on the first ever game I played. I have memories of renting a Playstation 2 for my brother’s birthday party and playing 007 Nightfire. The four player multiplayer with AI bots was a blast at the party. I also remembering switching off on Ratchet and Clank for the Playstation 2. I found Ratchet and Clank a very fun game with the colorful environments and creative weapons and gadgets. I don’t remember which came first however, what I do know though, is that both of these games were a blast to play.
